Modeling:
HyperNURBS Weighting

Works with:
R8, XL , Studio
Requires:
Version 8+

The HyperNURBS object uses an algorithm to subdivide and round the object interactively – a process termed subdivision surfaces. This is an extremely quick and simple way to create organic forms. With CINEMA 4D R8 you're now able to add weighting to polygons, edges, or points, giving you more control in defining your mesh.
Weighted Points

Step 1: Create a Cube (Objects=>Primitive=>Cube) and select Make Editable from the Structure menu.

Step 2: Now add a HyperNURBS (Objects=>NURBS=>HyperNURBS) and drag the Cube into the HyperNURBS.

Weighted Polygons
Step 3: With the cube selected, go into Point, Edge, or Polygon mode (depending on what it is you want to weight). Select a point, edge, or polygon you wish to weight. There are two ways you can weight a point, edge, or polygon. One way is to hold down the '.' key while clicking and dragging. This allows interactive weighting within the editor view. Holding Shift or Ctrl while interactively weighting will modify what is weighted... either allowing points or edges to be affected or making them unaffected. Play around with the modifier keys to see how they affect your model when weighting.

For more controlled weighting, go to the Active Tool to the bottom box called HyperNURBS Weight. You can set Strength from –100% to 100%.

You can also set a minimum or maximum weight in the Active Tool settings so that your Interactive Weighting is limited to, for instance, greater than 10% and less than 50%.

In the Active Tool, you can also use the drop-down and slider to set an absolute weighting value, or add or subtract an absolute percentage from the current weighting value.
