Download:
Project
Works with:
R8, XL, Studio
Requires:
Version 8.2+

XPresso (R8's node-based expression editor) can be a bit daunting at first glance. Bjorn, of MAXON Germany, has assembled a series of examples of common animation tasks that should help to ease the pain of understanding and utilizing this powerful feature.

XPresso's well worth putting the time and energy into learning...now, have at her!

Xpresso provides you with a node to include noise in your animation.

The example file shows how to apply a Noise to the Y value of points. When using the 'Use Global Position' option, you'll want to probably set the Scale parameter to a value well below 1.

The structure may look a bit complex but it is actually easy to setup. It is split in two parts.

- Iteration over all points

- Calculation of the noise in regard to the position

For further explanation, you will find detailed remarks on how the expression works in the Xpresso editor in the project file above.
