Modeling:
Create Polygons Tool

Works with:
R9, XL, Studio
Requires:
Version 9.012

With the addition of N-Gons for Release 9, almost all of the modeling tools have been rewritten or updated! Such is the case with the Create Polygon Tool.

Step 1: In order to use the Create Polygon Tool, you first need to have a Polygon Object in the scene (Objects=>Polygon Object).

Enable either the Points, Edges, or Polygons modes. Also activate the Create Polygon Tool (Structure=>Create Polygon).

Polygon created in Clockwise direction
Step 2: How the Create Polygon Tool creates the direction of polygons is determined from Clockwise and Counter-Clockwise movement.

The polygon in the image was created in the Coutner-Clockwise direction. Notice the Red and Blue Polygon Tinting. This shows the frontface and backface of the polygon respectively

Step 3: In the Attributes Manager for this tool the Create function has three different modes: N-gon, Triangle Strip, and Quadrangle Strip.

With the function set to N-gon the tool will be able to create as many points for the polygon as you want!

With the function set to Triangle Strip a polygon will be created with every three points.

With the function set to Quadrangle Strip a polygon will be created from every four points.

Note: The N-gon Subdivision function will only be active when Create is set to N-gon. This will subdivide the n-gon prior to creation into triangles or quadrangles.
